Explosives trace detection (ETD) machines

in which a human operator (baggage screener) uses chemical analysis to manually detect traces of explosive materials' vapors and residue.[1]

Overview Edit

An EDS machine uses computed tomography technology to automatically measure the physical characteristics of objects in baggage. The system automatically triggers an alarm when objects that exhibit the physical characteristics of explosives are detected.[2]
