This report examined ways in which new technology, especially Web 2.0, could be used to achieve "more open, accountable, responsive and efficient government." The report defined its area of focus in terms of three pillars:
- achieving a shift in public service culture and practice
- application of Web 2.0 tools to government; and
- open access to public sector information.
The Taskforce anticipated that adoption of these principles would lead to benefits including improved government services, greater public participation in democracy, an unlocking of the value in public sector information, and revitalisation of the public sector.
