Definition[]

An Electronic Records Management Software (ERMS) is

software designed to manage physical and electronic records in accordance with Records and Information Management Principles. As their core objective, ERMS systems provide a method for managing the life cycle of electronic records from the point at which work in progress documents are declared as records until their final disposition, under approved records retention rules and policies.[1]
