Overview Edit

The Electronic Health Record Way Ahead (EHR Way Ahead) is a proposed Major Automated Information System (MAIS) program designed to replace/sunset the current portfolio of systems providing initial EHR capability, primarily AHLTA and Composite Health Care System (CHCS).

EHR Way Ahead will establish a comprehensive, longitudinal, electronic health record that is available anytime and anywhere for the lifetime of every patient. This longitudinal electronic health record will support a virtual lifetime electronic record (VLER) for a service member by being a source system for health care information to be shared via VLER.
