Overview Edit

The UK Electronic Communications Act 2000 was enacted to help build confidence in electronic communications by creating a legal framework for electronic commerce and the use of electronic signatures, both in the private and public sectors. The Act was completed by the Electronic Signatures Regulations 2002, which implemented the European Directive 1999/93/EC on a Community framework for electronic signatures.
