Overview Edit

Electronic Commerce (EC) Through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) was an initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense in the early 1990s to move the processing of all business-related transactions from the traditional EDI technologies into complete electronic commerce, "end-to-end paperless commerce." Electronic commerce includes traditional EDI, electronic mail, transparently secure database access, system-wide data protection, and more.
