ENIAC (an acronym for Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer) was the first electronic general-purpose computer. It first became operational in 1946. ENIAC stood 10 feet tall, stretched 150 feet wide, cost millions of dollars, and could execute up to 5,000 operations per second.
