Office of Management and Budget, E-Government Strategy (Feb. 27, 2002).

Overview[]

In February 2002, OMB issued its first "E-Government Strategy" aimed at improving the quality of services to citizens, businesses, governments, and government employees, as well as the effectiveness and efficiency of the federal government through the use of information technology. The strategy also designated 24 high-profile initiatives to lead the government's transformation to e-government in areas such as regulatory rulemaking, tax filing, disaster assistance, and recruitment. When the E-Government Act of 2002 was signed into law on December 17, 2002, it reflected the experiences of both the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs and OMB in promoting e-government.
