The Domestic and External Security Group (DESG) coordinates central government activities aimed at protecting New Zealand's domestic and external security including intelligence, counterterrorism preparedness, emergency and crisis management and defense operations.
The Group provides secretarial support for the Officials Committee for Domestic and External Security Coordination and chairs interdepartmental watch groups. It is a unit of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
