Disaster response

provides for the immediate protection of life and property, reestablishing control and minimizing the effects of a disaster. It encompasses the issuance and dissemination of predictions and warnings; planning and preparation immediately before an event (such as preparations following a hurricane warning); evacuation and other forms of protective action; mobilization and organization of emergency personnel, volunteers, and material resources; search and rescue; care of casualties and survivors; damage and needs assessment; damage control and restoration of public services; and maintenance of the political and legal system.[1]
