Definition Edit

Digital modular radio (DMR) (also software reprogrammable radio) is

[a] reprogrammable radio that permits the operator to instantly change the device's bandwidth, modulation and security waveforms with software commands. The digital modular radio can also function as a router, moving voice, data and video over a wide variety of wireline and wireless paths. Users can reprogram the radio through a Windows-like interface from a personal computer, or remotely over wireless and wireline, or over Internet pathways.[1]
