The Australian Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA) provided strategic advice and professional support to the Australian Government on a wide range of significant and rapidly changing policy areas including information and communications technology. The Department was closed on December 3, 2007, and its authority was transferred to the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE).
