The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) (formerly the Defense Communications Agency (DCA)) is a combat support agency responsible for planning, engineering, acquiring, fielding, and supporting global net-centric solutions to serve the needs of the President, Vice President, the Secretary of Defense, and other DoD Components, under all conditions of peace and war. The designated core missions of DISA are communications, joint command and control, defensive information operations, combat support computing, and joint interoperability support.
Technical guides[]
The DISA has created a series of security technical implementation guides that address general purpose or multi-use technologies. These guides serve as configuration standards for the Department of Defense’s wireless devices and systems. In addition, DISA has made these guides available for other federal agencies to provide them with a baseline level of security.
