Definitions[]

Data integrity is

[t]he state that exists when computerized information or data is the same as that in the source documents and has not been exposed to accidental or malicious modification, alteration, or destruction.[1]
[t]he attribute of data that is related to the preservation of its meaning and completeness, the consistency of its representation(s), and its correspondence to what it represents.[2]
[t]he property that data is complete, intact, and trusted and has not been modified or destroyed in an unauthorized or accidental manner.[3]
[t]he property that data has not been altered or destroyed in an unauthorized manner.[4]
