Customer premises equipment (CPE) is/are

[d]evices, ranging from simple telephones to computer, that are located on the customer's premises and are used to send or receive information over the telephone network.[1]
equipment employed on the premises of a person (other than a carrier) to originate, route, or terminate telecommunications.[2]
