Definition Edit

Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) govern the manner or degree to which contractors apportion costs to their cost-based contracts with the government. The purpose of CAS is to provide a set of uniform and consistent accounting standards and requirements that protect the government from the risk of overpaying for goods and services.
