The term constitutional means that a law or regulation is in accord with the principles set forth in the constitution of a nation or a state.

U.S. Constitution Edit

To be constitutional, a federal statute must be enacted pursuant to a power of Congress enumerated in the U.S. Constitution and must not contravene any provision of the U.S. Constitution.
