Definitions[]

Configuration is

(1) The arrangement of a computer system or network as defined by the nature, number, and chief characteristics of its functional units. (2) The physical and logical elements of an information processing system, the manner in which they are organized and connected, or both. The term may refer to a hardware configuration or a software configuration.[1]
[a]n expression in functional terms (that is, expected performance) and physical terms (that is, appearance and composition).[2]
