Overview[]

The field of computer law is a collection of legal doctrines that have one thing in common — they have all been created or altered by the emergence of computers as a major force in every aspect of global society, commerce, politics and trade. Today, this field of law is more often referred to as information technology law in recognition of the fact that computers per se are only a small part of the field, which includes a variety of new technologies that would not be classified as "computers," but are part of the larger information technology environment.
