Commodity IT services is

[a] category of back-office IT services whose functionality applies to most, if not all, agencies (e.g., infrastructure and asset management, email, hardware and software acquisition, and help desks).[1]

"Examples of commodity IT services identified in OMB Memorandum M-11-29 include IT Infrastructure (e.g. Data Centers, Networks, Desktop Computers, Mobile Devices), Enterprise IT Systems (e.g. E-mail, Collaboration Tools, Identity and Access Management, Security, Web Infrastructure), Business Systems (e.g. Finance, Human Resources, Other Administrative Functions)."[2]
