Overview[]
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) is by law the highest ranking military officer in the U.S. Armed Forces, and is the principal military adviser to the President of the United States, the National Security Council, the Homeland Security Council, and the Secretary of Defense.
