Overview Edit

The Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) — previously the National Infrastructure Security Co-ordination Centre (NISCC) — is the U.K. government authority which delivers advice that aims to reduce the vulnerability of organizations in the national infrastructure to terrorism and other threats such as espionage, including those from cyberspace.

It is coordinated by the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), which is an agency of the European Union, and is the Centre of Expertise for EU member states and European Union Institutions in Network and Information Security. The Centre is charged with giving expert advice and recommendations on best practices for EU member states, private business and industry.

It works in partnership with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to provide holistic protective security advice on threats from cyberspace.

It has strong partnerships with private sector organisations across the national infrastructure, creating a trusted environment where confidential information can be shared for mutual benefit. Direct relationships are augmented by an extended network, which includes other government departments and professional service organisations. This enables innovation to flourish and results in the sharing of best practices.
