Overview Edit

The Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFT) is an agreement originally signed by the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic on December 21, 1992 and effective on July 1, 1994. Slovenia (1996), Romania (1997) and Bulgaria (1999) later joined CEFTA. Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, Macedonia and Ukraine have announced their intention to join. The agreement provides for the gradual establishment of a free trade area for industrial goods and a gradual reduction of certain, but not all, barriers to trade in agro-food products.
