COMSAT (an acronym for COMmunications SATellite Corporation) is a corporation, chartered by the U.S. Congress, as the exclusive provider of international telecommunications satellite channels to the United States. COMSAT also represents the United States in INTELSAT.

Of its 16 orbiting satellites, 10 handle international communications, 3 link ships at sea, and 3 are leased for domestic telephone calls.
