Definition Edit

A burst encoder is a device that allows unsent messages to be stored on a recording medium. At a later time, the pre-recorded message is sent over the air at very high speed using a playback device. This method is used to prevent detection of the location of the sender. Messages sent this manner often sound like a short tone or burst.
