Overview Edit

This Rule implements section 13402 of the HITECH Act by requiring HIPAA covered entities to provide notification following a breach of unsecured protected health information to individuals, HHS, and in some cases the media. This Rule also requires business associates to notify covered entities following a breach of unsecured protected health information.[1]
