Biometric validation refer to

[s]ervices to support capturing, extracting, comparing and matching a measurable, physical characteristic or personal behavioral trait used to recognize the identity or verify the claimed identity of an entity. Biometrics modalities include face, fingerprint, and iris recognition and can be matched on card, on reader, or on server.[1]
