Bent pipe is

[a] description of a satellite communication architecture type in which data is transmitted to the satellite, which then sends it right back down again like a bent pipe. The only processing performed is retransmission of the signals.[1]
a satellite communications system that transmits to an Earth station essentially the same signal it receives from another Earth station.[2]
