Overview Edit

The Auto-ID Center was a research group founded in 1999 at MIT to work in the field of networked radio frequency identification (RFID) and emerging sensing technologies. The research done at the Center formed the basis for the Internet of Things. The Center was closed in September 2003.

EPCglobal was established to continue the work of commercializing EPC technology, and the Center's research work is carried on by Auto-ID Labs at universities around the world.
