An attribute is

[a] named quality or characteristic inherent in or ascribed to someone or something. Attributes can include personal qualities (e.g. age), ambient information such as location, or certifications that serve as proof of a given capability.[1]
[s]pecific data entries associated with people and organizations. Such data entries will perform one or more of the following functions:
[a] characteristic or property of an entity that can be used to describe its state, appearance, or other aspects.[3]
any distinctive feature, characteristic, or property of an object that can be identified or isolated quantitatively or qualitatively by either human or automated means.[4]

Geospatial Edit

An attribute is

descriptive information about the properties of events, features, or entities associated with a location, such as the ownership of a parcel of land, or the population of a neighborhood, or the wind speed and direction over a point on the ground.[5]
