The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established in 1967 to promote the economic, social and cultural development of the region through co-operative programs, to safeguard the political and economic stability of the region, and to serve as a forum for the resolution if inter-regional differences. There are currently 10 member countries.
Cybercrime initiatives Edit
According to the 2009-2015 Roadmap for an ASEAN Community, ASEAN seeks to combat transnational cybercrime by fostering cooperation among member-nations’ law enforcement agencies and promoting the adoption of cybercrime legislation. In addition, the roadmap calls for activities to develop information infrastructure and expand computer emergency response teams (CERT) and associated drills to all ASEAN partners.
