The Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL) is

[a] division of the Office of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner under the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. [It p]rovides scientific consultation, research and education services in the field of forensic DNA analysis to the Department of Defense and other agencies, as well as worldwide, and DNA reference specimen collection, accession, and storage of United States military and other authorized personnel.[1]
