Citation Edit

European Commission, A Strategy for a Secure Information Society – "Dialogue, partnership and empowerment" COM(2006) 251 (May 31, 2006) (full-text).

Overview Edit

This Communication called for a structured process of consultation and dialogue on network and information security to be established with relevant stakeholders, including public administrations, private sector and individual users, and ENISA, as appropriate.

The proposed strategy emphasised the positive virtue of technological diversity as an integral component of security, as well as the importance of openness and interoperability. It also highlighted the strategic importance that European industry be both a demanding user and a competitive supplier of network and information security products and services.
