Overview Edit

On February 4, 2011, President Obama released an updated "Strategy for American Innovation." The Strategy is built on three key pillars — that the Nation is at its best when it invests in the building blocks of innovation, including its people, ideas and infrastructure; that there are "rules of the road" that promote market-based innovation, including strong intellectual property protection, research and experimentation tax credits, and a regulatory system that works; and breakthroughs are catalyzed for national priorities, including the development of a clean energy economy, a renaissance in American manufacturing through advanced technologies, and a quantum leap in educational technologies.

An earlier version of this paper was published on September 20, 2009.
