This report summarizes recent Federal Government actions to deliver on the promise of a 21st century grid while fostering job growth, innovation, and consumer savings. It is an update to the original Policy Framework (A Policy Framework for the 21st Century Grid: Enabling Our Secure Energy Future) released in June 2011.
This report summarizes Federal Government progress and the range of recent steps taken to deliver on the promise of a 21st century grid, including:
- investing in the development and deployment of smart grid technologies and transmission infrastructure;
- improving access to household or building energy data in formats useful to families and businesses;
- establishing new interoperability standards to spur private-sector innovation; and
- launching new programs to address critical grid security needs.
