Overview[]
The strategy outlined six areas for co-operation among member economies including legal developments, information sharing and co-operation, security and technical guidelines, public awareness, and training and education. The publication recommended that its members adopt legislation and policies criminalizing cybercrime.
To supplement the APEC Cybersecurity Strategy, in 2005 the APEC Telecommunications and Information Working Group (APEC TEL) adopted the Strategy to Ensure a Trusted, Secure and Sustainable Online Environment to encourage APEC economies to take action for the security of information systems and networks.
